Thom Metcalf

My interest in art started almost 70 years ago when entering Mrs. Baker's Kindergarten in my hometown of Paris Texas. Art courses throughout my High School and college years lead me to my passion for photography.
My career in Behavioral Sciences brought me to Denison in 1977. My passion for photography never faded and through the years it has taken many diverse paths including portrait work, live performances, weddings, sports and special events.
Following my retirement in 2012 and a battle with heart failure that eventually led to a heart transplant my photography was shelved as I recovered. When I regained my strength my passions and perspectives had changed. I was more interested in images that held a deeper meaning for me. This new perspective led to the realization that I had reached my Elder Years.
A quote from an old friend, the late Townes Van Zandt encourages me daily; To LIVE is to FLY
Both Low and High
So,Shake the Dust of your Wings
And the Sleep out of your Eyes"
