Curtis Gander
Curtis Gander is a representational oil painter who resides in North Texas. He often captures the inherent authenticity and quiet character in the non-idealized, familiar scenes that we encounter every day, employing a loose, alla-prima style with economy of brushwork whether working outside or in his studio. He is also known for his "Viewing the Viewer" series depicting people viewing art. Curtis has had several solo exhibits in galleries throughout the Upper Midwest where he lived until his recent move south. Since living in Texas, his paintings have been in two solo shows, one juried exhibit, and in other shows where he has received several awards. His work is owned by individuals and dealers across the country. His miniatures are represented at Douglas Flanders & Associates gallery in Edina, Minnesota. He holds a BA degree in art from Gustavus Adolphus College and did master’s study at the University of Wisconsin.
" I am inspired by ordinary, common scenes. I find beauty in everyday enviroments."
