Wanda Oliver
I am a self-taught experimental photographer, with large dollops of print making, collage, and book arts thrown in for good measure. My work typically begins in the analog with mark making on photosensitive substrates using light and chemistry, and is finished in the digital. I freely mix the two, pushing the limits of both. Celebrating the untamed spirit, I am artist and mad scientist, always ready to ask, "what if?”, and set out to answer my own question.
Academically, I am trained in mathematics and computer science and I spent a career as a software engineer engaged in projects on three continents. Throughout it all, I had the heart of an artist, from being the only manager at Dell to sport purple hair to being recognized on Instagram as the Queen of Chemigrams.
I now devote myself full time to art, in my home town of Windom, Texas, with my dog, a recused cat, and my husband - whom I fell in love with in 1968, but did not marry until 2012.
