Silky Hart
Mixed Media, Oil and Printmaking
Silky loves to capture the essence of whatever she is painting. Whether she is capturing the high desert of New Mexico, a butterfly garden in her backyard, everyday objects in her home, memories of her travels or how a spring day feels, there is an ongoing dance between Silky and what is evolving on the canvas. Recently, Silky took a printmaking workshop that utilizes recycled materials on a craft press. She is excited about giving brand new life to her paintings through this process.
Deeply involved in the McKinney art scene, Silky is the co-founder of the McKinney Creative Community and co-organizes their annual Holiday Art Bazaar at Tupps Brewery. Silky is also the visual arts representative for the Historic Downtown McKinney Cultural District.
Silky has a BFA in dance and a master's degree in international business. Although Silky had many rewarding years of working as an expressive arts facilitator in healthcare facilities, she knew she wanted to do more with art and became a full time painter.
Silky keeps a light-filled art studio in the historic district of McKinney where she lives with her husband, dog and two cats. Her art is known for its vibrant colors and expressive movement. What else would you expect from a former dancer?
